Singapore’s 31 REITs and six stapled securities have averaged a 4.1% total return since the start of 2016 with an indicative yield of 7.2%, the Singapore Exchange announced on 22 June.

“The average return is similar to that of the benchmark index, the SGX S-REIT 20 Index, which has generated a 4.4% total return over the period”, said the bourse, adding that the addition of two IPOs during the year have expanded Singapore’s REIT sector from SGD62.39 billion to SGD66.57 billion.

Excluding Saizen REIT which conducted an asset disposal exercise that resulted in a one-off distribution, the five best performing stocks of Singapore’s REIT sector in the year-to-date are Keppel REIT, Mapletree Commercial Trust, Mapletree Industrial Trust, Suntec REIT and Lippo Malls Indonesia Retail Trust.

These five REITs averaged a year-to-date return of 13.3%, said Singapore Exchange.

The bourse also named the five REITs and stapled securities that have scored the highest dividend yields averaging some 9.5%. These are namely Cache Logistics Trust, Lippo Malls Indonesia Retail Trust, Sabana Shari'ah Compliant Industrial REIT, Viva Industrial Trust, and Soilbuild Business Space REIT.
