One person has died in an early morning fire on 4 May at 30 Toh Guan Road, a property under the portfolio of Cambridge Industrial Trust.

According to a statement from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), the service was alerted to the fire at about 7.40 a.m.

The fire, which was confined to the external facade of the building, was put out within 40 minutes, said the service.

However a woman in her 50s was conveyed to the hospital with burns, where she subsequently succumbed to her injuries, according to local media reports.

About 50 other persons were evacuated safely from the property.

30 Toh Guan Road is listed by Cambridge Industrial Trust as an eight-storey warehouse and office property with an annexed two-storey conventional warehouse.

The property features approximately 293,500 square feet of net lettable area, representing about 3.5% of the REIT’s leasable space.

REITsWeek has contacted Cambridge Industrial Trust for an update on the property, and investigations into the fire by the SCDF is currently ongoing.

Units of Cambridge Industrial Trust are currently trading on the Singapore Exchange at SGD0.57.
