EC World REIT optimistic on Chinese e-commerce growth despite perceived slowdown


Alibaba achieved sales growth of 27% for its Singles Day of 2018, falling short of the 36% growth recorded in the previous year.

Singles' Day, which is more popularly known as ‘Double 11’ in China, is the world's biggest online sales event, surpassing that of the US’ Black Friday and Cyber Monday combined, in terms of sales.

But how should REIT investors read these numbers, especially when taken against the backdrop of plateauing numbers of new internet users across China, and the ongoing trade tensions with the US?
