High-tech industrial REIT, Mapletree Industrial Trust (MIT) has been added to the Straits Times Index (STI).

The REIT will replace Singapore Press Holdings in the benchmark index, from 22 June.

Further to these changes, Keppel DC REIT, Suntec REIT, NetLink NBN Trust, Frasers Logistics & Industrial Trust, and Keppel REIT have been added to the STI reserve list.

These are the five highest ranking non-constituents of the STI by market capitalization.

Stocks on the reserve list will replace any constituents that become ineligible as a result of corporate actions, before the next review.

The STI is widely followed by investors as the benchmark for the Singapore market.

The index is also used as the basis for a range of financial products including exchange traded funds (ETFs).

MIT joins sister REITs, Mapletree Logistics Trust (MLT) and Mapletree Commercial Trust (MCT) in the STI.

Other REIT constituents in the index include Ascendas REIT, CapitaLand Mall Trust (CMT), and CapitaLand Commercial Trust (CCT).

MIT was last done on the Singapore Exchange at SGD2.65.
