Sabana REIT was conceived as Singapore's first Shari’ah compliant REIT more than a decade ago.

And judging from the awards it won, such as the KL Islamic Finance Forum’s "Most Outstanding Islamic Real Estate Product" in 2013, the REIT may have gathered a following among the Shari’ah investment community.

But Sabana REIT announced this year that it will be dropping its adherence to Shari’ah principle, a possibility that REITsWeek has been reporting on since at least 2018.

The move was finalised recently, and the REIT has now rebranded itself as Sabana Industrial REIT.
