Guangdong Data Centre (Keppel DC REIT)

Keppel DC REIT has allayed concerns over its maiden data centre acquisition in China, amid Beijing’s widening crackdown on the technology sector.

The data centre-focused REIT announced on 26 July that it is acquiring the fully-fitted Guangdong Data Centre for RMB 635.9 million (USD98 million).

It marks Keppel DC REIT’s first data centre acquisition in China, and the asset will be fully occupied by its vendor, Bluesea Data Development, on a triple net lease basis for 15 years.

In response to questions at a media event, the CEO of Keppel DC REIT’s manager, Anthea Lee, described the acquisition as one that will benefit from the growth of the Greater Bay Area that includes Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Jiangmen.
